Morris Rosenfeld, E.M Lilien
Lieder Des Ghetto is a contemporary re-edition of Morris Rosenfeld’s one hundred year old book of poems. The book was an international best seller published in a variety of languages at the turn of the 20th century;
The re-edition is based on the Marquardt press edition, published in Berlin in 1902, and which included illustrations by the legendary German-Jewish artist E.M Lilien. The re-edition emphasizes the continued relevance of this work in a world where sweatshops have multiplied throughout the planet, and now constitute the majority of the world’s labor force. The book features a new English translation, and is paired with contemporary artworks that deal with current social injustices that continue to result from capitalist exploitation.
