Agnes Bolt’s hardcover artist book brings together the people of two towns that had never heard of each other: The Braddocks of rural North Dakota and the Braddocks of post-industrial Pennsylvania. The project examines the social and cultural differences of these namesakes through the stuff of their inhabitants. From discarded meat grinders to pheasant feathers, people’s things and the narratives around those things begin to take on drastically different meanings as they get gifted from one person to the next, from one town to the other. Bad memories become yearnings, conquests turn into warnings in humorous, awkward and poignant exchanges. A limited edition of 500. Measures 8.25” x 6.5” and printed on Cougar uncoated paper. 160 pages plus newspaper insert.
